Dolphin Cafe
Tucked away on West Pier in Peterhead, the Dolphin Cafe offers more than just a picturesque coastal view-it serves up a hearty slice of local flavor with comfort food that knows how to impress. Whether you're in for a quick bite between seaside strolls or settling down for a full dinner with friends or family, this cafe has that down-to-earth charm that immediately feels familiar. It’s no wonder it’s popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner alike.
What truly sets Dolphin Cafe apart is its coastal-inspired menu, with generous portions and honest flavors. Take the Standard Fish and Chips, for example-a no-fuss, crisp-on-the-outside, flaky-on-the-inside kind of meal that keeps regulars coming back. But don’t stop there. If you're feeling fancy, the Langoustine and Chips Dinner is a local gem-sweet, succulent langoustines paired with golden fries that soak up just enough sea breeze to make it memorable. For something a little more refined, the Smoked Honey Roasted Salmon brings together a subtle sweetness with that signature smokiness you can only get from proper preparation.
If you're dining with little ones, there’s something for them too. The Kids Hamburger in Bun with Chips is a reliable winner, and for the grown-ups, the Beef Burger hits the spot with its juicy patty and no-frills presentation. Prefer something lighter? The Chicken Wrap with Chips offers a more balanced alternative, and the Falafel is a thoughtful nod to vegetarians, made fresh and full of flavor.
The Fish Combo is a go-to for those who can’t pick just one, combining a bit of everything into one plate of fried goodness. And if you're a fan of the classics with a twist, the Skate Fish with Chips delivers something different while still grounding you in the comforting textures of a traditional British seafood meal.
Beyond the menu, the service experience speaks volumes. With dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options, Dolphin Cafe manages to be both flexible and reliable. Whether you're popping in solo for a quick meal or planning a family outing, there's something refreshingly unpretentious about the way they do things. Their on-site services are friendly and efficient, and the accessibility features-from wheelchair-accessible parking to toilets-make it a welcoming space for everyone.
Tea lovers will appreciate the great tea selection, and if you're after something sweet, the desserts here don’t disappoint. Think rich, comforting classics done well-nothing over-the-top, just solid, satisfying endings to a coastal meal. And of course, coffee drinkers will find a decent brew to keep the conversation flowing.
The atmosphere leans casual, but don’t mistake that for basic. Dolphin Cafe knows its audience well-locals looking for a warm plate and travelers wanting to taste the region without the touristy gloss. It’s this balance that keeps the place buzzing, especially during breakfast hours when the café hums with early risers diving into eggs and toast, or later in the evening when diners dig into their freshly fried fish with a view of the boats just offshore.

Reviews
Amazing chipper with sit down seating. Probably the freshest fish & chips you could have in the NE of Scotland. Prices were a little high for that reason but you do get what you pay for. Service was great but it is a chipper so that’s not really the point is it?
Went here on recommendation; FOOD: I had double fillet haddock with chips, peas, coleslaw, bread and butter. The fish was outstanding! Lovely and light crispy batter, and cooked to perfection. Chips were non-greasy. 10/10 SERVICE: Good service from the pleasant waitress. 9/10 DECOR: Loved the model fishing boats dotted around. Toilets were clean and fresh. 8/10 X-FACTOR: Great location, down by the harbour, with fishing boats in view from the windows. Amazingly, when we went at 1530 on a Thursday we had the place to ourselves. 9/10 VFM: Great value! £38 for 2 people, including soft drinks, bread and butter. 10/10 Thoroughly recommended. 46/50 in total.
Based on Google ratings, I visited the Dolphin Restaurant and tried the fish and chips. The fish was decent, but the chips tasted like they were fried in old or poor-quality oil.
The fish is crispy and not oily but the chips can be better. Love the tartare sauce
The front part of the area is restricted and has safety guides. You may ask for directions to the restaurant. During business hours, some parking spaces are restricted for the government and the harbour department.
